Why You Need to Read the Bible Every Day
“But as for you… continue in the word”
Pastor Mike Patz concludes our sermon series on Prayer, looking at 2 Timothy 3:13-17. The Apostle Paul is writing this epistle from a jail cell. He is aware of the fact that his days are numbered and almost done. The end of life tends to give you clarity that you don’t have when you’re younger. What’s on his mind is Timothy, his disciple! He’s obsessed with passing on the Word of God.
The Word teaches us the truth, it rebukes behaviors that aren’t of God, it corrects us, trains us up, and saves our souls. The Word does what nothing else can do. Left to ourselves, we will apply the scriptures with our own wisdom. The Word became flesh, King Jesus! Continue in the scriptures for true discipleship, and rescue for your soul!
