Why Covenant Still Matters
We continue our series, Malachi: More Than Religion, looking at the final book of the Old Testament. It challenges our drift toward religious performance and calls us back to covenant love.
Our commitment to God is more than contractual, it’s relational! Our culture today has become a contractual arena. We look for connection without a cost, but God says that will not work. In Malachi 2:10-16, Pastor Mike Patz shares that God says, “Do not be faithless.”
Marriage is a symbol of God’s love for us. It is not a contractual agreement or a compatiblity issue, it is covenantal. A contract is an agreement based on performance. Covenant is a sacred promise based on relationship.
True love demands a lifelong commitment, one to the other. God doesn’t do contracts, He does covenant- and covenant love is the only cure for the ache of a human heart.
