Why Baptism?

Mike Patz Apr 28, 2025

Sports fans will say, “I’m all in!” These days we see Christians say that they are committed, that they’re all in. But statistics don’t match the actual number of people who claim to be believers. If all the people who are claiming to be Christians were fully committed disciples, the world would be turned upside down.

Pastor Mike Patz continues our Reorient series, exploring the gap between the Book of Acts church and the church of today. In Acts 2:28, the early church had people turn to Jesus and immediately be baptized. It was the sign of a spiritual birthday, the sealing of a covenant with God.

The command of Jesus to “go and make disciples, baptizing them…” stands strong today. Baptism is not just a symbol, it’s a signal: I’ve died with Jesus, I’m cleansed by Jesus, I’m in covenant with Jesus. Be baptized, and be a baptizer!
