When Panic Leads The Way
What happens when panic leads the way? God has moved in David’s life, showed up in mighty power, yet here we find David at another low place. He looks like a mad man, deceptively acting crazy. David is a man after God’s own heart, but in this story we see he is not a “superman” after God’s own heart.
Pastor Mike Patz continues our series, The Gospel According to David, with a look at 1 Samuel 21. Fear can override our faith, and in an age of anxiety, if we’re not careful we will panic. Desperation will distort your discernment, and when fear takes charge, even wise people will fall. We’ve been conditioned by a culture of reactivity, not reflection. God gives us discernment as a gift, but we must keep it focused on Him in faith. Make your decisions from a place of presence and peace, not panic and desperation.
Psalm 34 is birthed out of this low season in David’s life, “Oh, magnify the Lord with me…” From fear to faith, a kingdom unto God is born.
