The Hero We Want, The Villain We Fear
“You are that man!” David, the brave shepherd boy turned king, has now broken many laws to take a woman who was not his. What do we do with this falling away in a most ungodly way?

David was not a perfect hero, one step below Jesus’ example of excellence that we are expected to follow. But he was willing to humble himself and repent when Nathan, under the direction of the Spirit of God. Disciples are people who hear and line themselves up with the Word of God. The dark reality is that sin is not beneath any of us. David is a man like us, and the villain we fear, but still a man after God’s heart. We must regularly ask ourselves, “is it I Lord?” He is ready and willing to forgive and restore those who come to Him, humble and repentant in heart.
