It’s Not the Fall, It’s Where You Fall
The worst pain in your life usually has a name. It’s a parent, a friend, a coworker. Betrayal doesn’t come from a distance- it’s the breaking of a close trust, the pain of betrayal. If we are honest, we not only know what it’s like to be betrayed, but we know what it is to be the betrayer.
As we continue our series, Lent: It’s not about earning… it’s about remembering, Pastor Mike Patz unpacks Matthew 26, the account of the week of the Passover and crucifixion. Judas and Peter both, in their own way, fell, betraying Jesus.
When we fall, we tend to move into shame and blame, but we can collapse and rise into hope. In true repentance, one can rise from sin and to new life. Our response to sin must be the upward look of restoration. Great news! Shalom was not destroyed by betrayal, it’s restored by repentance. Draw near to God, friend. Fall in His presence, and rise to His grace!
