How Sin Works
We were created for shalom, so what happened? From the beginning in the Garden of Eden, the plan was for mankind to be free. As we continue our series, Lent: It’s not about earning… it’s about remembering, Pastor Mike Patz shares from Genesis, chapters 2 & 3. As humans, when we misdiagnose our problem we also will misdiagnose the solution. The problem isn’t merely out there, it’s rooted in our hearts: sin. Sin starts with a mood of suspicion. “Did God really say…?” It begins when we stop trusting the goodness of God. Taking that first bite of the fruit of the tree, their intimacy died. Their security died. The deceiver was telling a partial truth, bringing death into the garden. We must choose to believe He is good. Today, what lie gets you? When we let “God is good” be our chief evidence, we can return to the shalom of relationship with Him.
