Come Follow Me
We live in a world where “following” can mean nothing more than clicking a button. But Jesus’ invitation to “Follow me” was never meant to be passive. Following Jesus means letting Him reshape the direction of our entire lives. As we journey through the book of Mark, a discipleship manual, Pastor Mike Patz looks at Mark 1:16–20, where Jesus calls Simon, Andrew, James, and John to leave their nets and follow Him. They didn’t just believe in Jesus or admire Him. They got up, left their nets, and followed. What does it look like to truly follow Jesus? Pastor Mike challenges us to ask four questions: Have I decided to follow Jesus? Has authority shifted in my life? Am I fishing for men? And am I becoming? Jesus doesn’t say, “Become everything you need to be, then follow me.” He says, “Follow me and I will make you become.” Transformation happens as we get close to Jesus and allow Him to reshape our lives. Following Jesus means surrendering our schedules, money, relationships, ambitions, anxieties, and preferences to His lordship. It means dropping the nets that keep us from going where He calls us. And it means joining His mission to reach those who don’t yet know Him. The invitation is still the same: Come follow me. No turning back. Jesus is Lord, and there is abundant life on the other side of following Him.
