The Firm Foundation

Byron Williams Dec 31, 2024

It’s the end of the year, a time when many people spend time reflecting on their lives. We look back to the past and move forward into the future! In this final sermon of the year, Pastor Byron Williams wraps up the School of Jesus series with a look at Matthew 7:13-29. In these closing statements of Jesus, He sets forth a clear distinction of following God or following the world. He gives insight into the future through the word of God. The Sermon on the Mount is timeless. It will always be relevant, because Jesus knows all. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He speaks with authority! It comes from the perspective of someone coming from the future. You must choose how to live your life, the path you will walk on. Walk in the authority of God. Put the words of Jesus into practice! There are two options. You can go through the narrow gate or the wide gate. You can walk down the wrong path or on the narrow path where there are only a few. Watch out for false prophets! By their fruit you shall know them. Walk with those who are bearing good fruit. Everyone bears fruit. What fruit are you bearing? Choose to do God’s will. We’re all entering the gate. We’re all walking a path. We’re all choosing to believe in Jesus. We’re all trees, bearing fruit. And we’re all building. Rain will come! How firm is the foundation you’re building on? Make sure it’s the firm foundation of Jesus! As we enter the new year, may we be determined to become the person that God wants us to be.
