God chooses people for more than the way their life begins. We very often discern wrongly. There’s a common trait about humans to judge incorrectly. Man looks on the outside. But the Lord sees not as man sees; He looks upon the heart. God always discerns wisely! He loves to invite the unlikely to be with Him. The one who is chosen is qualified by their heart.
A heart alive to God’s presence; a heart satisfied with God’s approval; a heart shaped by faith in God’s care; and a heart responsive to God’s word. God chooses David for the direction of his heart, not the perfection of his heart!
